When and Where to Watch Agilan
You can watch this action dram on Aha Video from March 31, 2023.
Agilan, like most Tamil films, isn’t sure what it wants to be. For the entirety of the first half, it presents us with a flawed hero, who’s self-centered with no morals. The second half introduces us to an entirely new world where the villainous deeds of the hero are justified.
This is forcibly done via a sub-plot about world hunger issues. The need to transform the hero from a grey-shaded character to one of a messiah sticks out like a sore thumb, especially after Ravi nails the negative part quite convincingly. The sudden tonal shift in the plot, particularly in the second half, is what lets the film down.
What’s the story of Agilan
Gokul has been tasked with putting a halt to unlawful actions in the harbor that are being perpetrated by Agilan, who operates a crane. He puts an end to all of this by introducing contemporary conveniences. Agilan, on the other hand, is able to circumvent any and all of the machinery and technology and continues his pranks. In order for Gokul to discover the motivation behind these actions, Agilan is taken into custody. What steps are taken after this?
Cast & Crew of Agilan
The performance of Jayam Ravi stands out since he is the only one who can carry the picture on his own. He has put a lot of work into his body language and the way he delivers his lines. The standard plot is much improved by his presence as a tough crane operator. Although Agilan contains the typical cliches of commercial media that we have seen in the past, the setting of the story makes it slightly more fascinating.
Although it is possible to view the second half of the movie, it does not live up to the anticipation of the audience. The efforts of the technical crew in shooting a full film in a harbor deserve recognition for what they accomplished.
The background score by Sam CS is deserving of special recognition because it works so well with the movie. The film’s staging and shots flow together naturally, without causing any disruptions to the story’s progression. Given the vast production that went into the movie, the film’s scope is amazing, and the filmmakers deserve praise for the degree to which they were able to pull it off.
The filmmaker, Kalyana Krishnan, does an excellent job of conveying life at the port, and the initial setup has a few scenes that stand out from the others. The tragic start of the situation’s unraveling can be attributed to the revelation of Agilan’s personal history and his goals. The fact that the ensuing sequences are not as startling as the ones that came before them lowers the overall level of interest in a movie that was previously quite high. The most notable flaw in the movie is that the second half of the story doesn’t have a good flow, especially when it comes to the major plot points.
For instance, Agilan may have continued to play the part of adversary for a longer amount of time so as to keep the interest of the viewers. This would have been done so as to: The political background of the movie highlights his motivation to deploy ships for charity in order to address global food crises; yet, the audience is not moved sufficiently by this aspect of the plot. The manner in which the movie’s origin tale is told so quickly throws off the flow of the story, and the beginning of the film.
