people were sheltering in the school in the city of Belogorovka, which was destroyed because of the attack. According to official information, 19 were rescued alive from the place.
The educational center occupies an area of 90 square meters and functioned next to the municipal House of Culture. Belogorovka is located in the breakaway region of Lugansk, which is the scene of intense fighting between Ukrainian and Russian troops.
The UN crisis coordinator for Ukraine, Amin Awad, expressed “deep dismay” over the attack. In a brief statement, he said the episode is another “raw reminder of the cruelty of this war”, and sympathized with the victims and their families.
