According to official reports from Netflix, the final episode will be around two hours long and will screen in over 350 movie theatres worldwide. The detailed list of theatres will be announced soon. Fans can watch the grand conclusion both on Netflix and in cinemas starting January 1, 2026.
As reported by Variety, the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, wanted fans to enjoy the series finale in a theatrical setting. “People don’t get to experience how much time and effort is spent on sound and picture,” they said. “It’s about sharing that experience together with fans.”
A Communal Experience for Fans Worldwide
The Duffer brothers believe that a communal viewing experience will make the finale more emotional and memorable. The series, which follows six kids battling the evil Vecna threatening Hawkins and the world, has become a cultural phenomenon since its debut.
In 2022, the Duffers confirmed that Season 5 would be the last, saying, “We are now hurtling toward our finale.” With its theatrical release, Stranger Things is set to end on a truly cinematic note.
