Paramasivan Fathima OTT release date: When and where to watch this horror thriller Starring Vemal, Chaya Devi

After its theatrical release stirred controversy and received predominantly negative reviews, Paramasivan Fathima, the latest directorial venture from filmmaker Esakki Karvannan, is all set for its digital debut. The Tamil-language social thriller with elements of horror will begin streaming on the OTT platform Aha starting July 4, 2025. This release comes nearly a month after its theatrical premiere on June 6, 2025, and offers audiences another opportunity to engage with the film, albeit from the comfort of their homes.

Paramasivan Fathima OTT Release Date

Paramasivan Fathima is all set to be premiered on 04 July 2025 on Aha Tamil.

After opening in cinemas on June 6, 2025, Paramasivan Fathima struggled both critically and commercially. Its controversial themes, questionable portrayal of communal tension, and lack of technical finesse contributed to its weak box office performance.

Yet, like many recent Tamil films, it is now seeking a second lease of life through streaming. The film’s OTT debut on Aha Tamil, scheduled for July 4, 2025, positions it for renewed interest, especially from viewers who may have skipped its theatrical release.

With a Tamil-speaking subscriber base, Aha Tamil has been investing in regional content that spans different genres and themes. Whether Paramasivan Fathima finds appreciation among this digital audience remains to be seen.

When and Where to Watch Paramasivan Fathima

You can watch this horror thriller on Aha Tamil from 04 July 2025.

The film’s technical aspects are a mixed bag. M. Sukumar handles cinematography, managing to create a sense of dread in some sequences despite limitations in production design. Buvan is in charge of editing, but the film suffers from pacing issues and abrupt tonal shifts that affect narrative cohesion.

The art direction, spearheaded by Veerasamar who also appears in a minor role attempts to depict the rustic backdrop authentically but falls short due to budgetary constraints.  Deepan Chakravarthy composed the film’s music. The first single, “Naa Malli,” was released on May 9, 2025, and received modest attention.

The full soundtrack, consisting of five songs in total, was launched during an audio event held in Chennai on May 26, 2025. Though the music tries to complement the film’s eerie atmosphere, it largely goes unnoticed due to the overshadowing narrative flaws.

Paramasivan Fathima Movie Story

Paramasivan Fathima is a genre-bending thriller that starts as a rural social drama and gradually descends into horror territory. The story is set in a remote hill village where a series of bizarre murders has thrown the community into chaos.

Initially believed to be the actions of a deranged killer, the investigation into these crimes soon unveils disturbing secrets buried deep within the village’s history. As law enforcement officers dig deeper, they are confronted with a chilling truth that challenges the boundaries of logic and reality.

The film’s title refers to its two central characters Paramasivan, played by Vimal, and Fathima, a mysterious figure brought to life by Chaya Devi in a dual role as both Fathima and Tamilselvi. This dual identity plays a crucial narrative role, adding psychological complexity to a plot that intertwines social commentary, superstition, and supernatural elements.

Cast and Crew of Paramasivan Fathima Movie

The film stars Vimal in one of his most intense roles to date. Known primarily for his work in rural dramas and romantic comedies, Vimal steps into unfamiliar territory with Paramasivan Fathima. His portrayal of Paramasivan, a man caught between logic and myth, is one of the few performances in the film that attempts to anchor its chaotic narrative.

Chaya Devi delivers a layered performance as she juggles the contrasting personas of Fathima and Tamilselvi. Her dual role is central to the film’s psychological and supernatural threads. While her performance brings a certain emotional depth, critics argue that even her efforts were not enough to elevate the weak writing.

The supporting cast includes a slew of seasoned and emerging actors like M. S. Bhaskar, Manoj Kumar, Sriranjani, Athira, Aruldoss, Cool Suresh, Kadhal Sukumar, and Veerasamar. Despite their experience, the ensemble’s talents are often underutilized due to a disjointed screenplay and heavy-handed messaging.

Paramasivan Fathima OTT Release Date

Paramasivan Fathima is written, directed, and produced by Esakki Karvannan, under his production house Lakshmi Creations. Karvannan, previously known for films like Tamil Kudimagan (2023), Pettikadai (2019), and Pagiri (2016), continues his exploration of socially-charged themes. However, this time, critics have pointed out that his message is muddled by poor execution.

An excerpt from a review in Cinema Express harshly critiques the film: The film has no redeeming factors, either in the performances or the screenplay front, even keeping aside the propaganda.

It is a contest between bad cinematic language and the worst political message. When you thought it just couldn’t get worse, the film flirts with multiple genres and finally ends as a horror film, to our bad luck.

This scathing reception underlines the widespread sentiment among critics and audiences alike, who found the film’s tone confused and its treatment of sensitive issues lacking in nuance.

Paramasivan Fathima is a film that attempts to blend socio-political themes with horror but ends up delivering a muddled narrative that fails to impress on multiple fronts. While the film’s ambition is evident in its subject matter and tonal shifts, the lack of coherent storytelling, underwhelming performances, and controversial messaging undermine its potential.

However, with its OTT release on Aha from July 4, the film is now accessible to a broader audience who may choose to engage with it critically or view it as a case study in how cinema can go astray despite topical intentions. Whether it garners cult status or fades into obscurity, Paramasivan Fathima remains a bold, if flawed, entry into Tamil cinema’s evolving landscape.
