Preparing the panettone itself is time consuming and more labor-intensive than baking bread at home, for example. But there are other Christmas recipes for getting your hands dirty.

A simpler possibility is to learn how to make cookies, which can give gifts or even be part of New Year’s Eve dinners.

Confectioner Lu Bonometti from Casa Bonometti offers guava cookies.

Over time, she also offers panettone and other sweets in her store, located at Rua Bahia, 480, in São Paulo.

Guava cookies

Preparation time: 50 min
Yield: 600 g (around 40 cookies)

Ingredients

200g butter at room temperature 1 cup (200g) sugar 2 eggs ½ teaspoon baking soda 2 ½ cups flour 1 cup creamy guava

Preparation mode

Bring the butter and sugar to the blender. Beat until a clear and airy mixture is obtained. Add the eggs and continue beating until they are well incorporated and the dough is foamy. Add the baking soda to the flour and add to the dough, until well incorporated. If you think the dough is too heavy for the mixer, finish by hand with a spatula. Unroll a piece of PVC film, put some of the paste on it and cover with a new layer of film. Roll out the dough until it is 0.5 cm thick. Repeat the process with all of the paste. Refrigerate for half an hour or until firm. Preheat the oven to 180 ° C. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and, using a circular cookie cutter, cut the discs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Place the guava in a pastry bag. Draw spirals on the cookies. Bake for 10 min. Remove and let cool so that the guava is firm
