It's time we stopped ignoring the reality of trans athletes

Trans athlete Lia Thomas dominated the Women’s College Swimming Championship held on the day November, with representatives from Cornell, Princeton, and University of Pennsylvania universities. Thomas, a biological man who identifies as a woman, has set a new record among Ivy League universities in the US 500me 67m free , even breaking several UPenn records.

In the final of 1650 In freestyle, Thomas, formerly a swimmer on the UPenn men’s team, under the name Will Thomas, razed the opponents, finishing in first and with an advantage of 20 seconds.

Unfortunately stories like this have become increasingly common. If the Biden-Harris administration acts as it pleases, this could become the rule rather than the exception.

A few weeks after Thomas humiliated his teammates, the Joe Biden Administration’s Education Department announced plans to adapt the legislation to fit the presidential decree for “prevention and combat to discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.”

Such adaptations made by the Department of Education would allow biological men to compete against women in the name of “equality” and “prevention of discrimination”. But the truth is that these adaptations would contradict reality, the notion of equality and public opinion.

It’s not hormone levels that make a woman. And there are no hormones in the world capable of negating the biological advantages of male genetics and male development. A study of 2020 published in the British Journal of Medicine shows that male athletes who are “going through the transition” maintain an advantage competitive on women even after two years of estrogen use.

In the past, no scientific study was needed to prove this. The advantage of 20 Thomas’ seconds advantage speaks for itself. Still, ideologues insist on denying reality.

Regardless of what Science says, the National Collegiate Sports Association and the International Olympic Committee require only that biological men’s testosterone levels fall to acceptable levels a year before men can compete against women.

Like these entities, the latest announcement from the Biden administration denies the science of biological sex. But this denial has consequences. The denial of sexual reality strips women of opportunities protected under a federal law known as “Chapter IX.”

Under “Chapter IX”, female athletes must have the same physical, training, recruiting and scholarship resources. As a result, more women became interested in sports.

In 2021, the number of female athletes in high schools was close to 295 thousand. Today they are 2.6 million. The number of athletes in universities quadrupled in the same period. “Chapter IX” also lowered women’s dropout rates, increasing the number of women in higher education.

Allowing biological men who identify themselves as trans to compete in women’s sports or to compete for scholarships with women is a setback. Thomas’s landslide victory among Ivy League swimmers is just the latest example. The athlete who would come in first ended up coming in second place – losing to Thomas, a biological man with a clear advantage.

Worst: Thomas’ best times in us 540me 960m free would be enough to break the current record for college sports in women’s swimming, records set by Olympic medalist Katie Ledecky.

Imagine if Thomas competed against Ledecky at his level maximum. The world would never know about Ledecky. Now imagine how many women will lose scholarships and career opportunities if they are forced to compete against biological men over and over again. This is the world the White House wants.

To be at odds with the reality is bad. But the Biden administration goes further, disagreeing with most Americans. Surveys show that 67% of Americans oppose the possibility of biological men who identify as women to compete in women’s sports. Twenty states are suing the Department of Education over the new rules. More than 20 states submitted projects of law to keep women’s sports just for women. Nine have passed laws to that effect.

The Biden administration and its activist allies of the Gender ideology made their unpopular views clear from day one. The administration does not just intend to change the rules of “Chapter IX”. She plans to rewrite the law to force female athletes across the country to compete against biological men. To do so, the White House intends to change the law little by little. This will represent the death of women’s sports.

But enough! As we prepare to celebrate the 20º. anniversary of “Chapter IX”, next year, elected officials should side with women, reality and public opinion.
