Spain is trying to fight the various fires that have already reached thousands of hectares of forest and agricultural areas in the country. The fires are a reflection of the strong heat wave, with temperatures above 16 degrees and that has already caused 300 deaths.

One of the hardest hit regions is the province of Malaga, where nearly 3,000 people had to leave their homes due to the fires. Another of the most affected regions is Castile and Leon, in the center-north, where about 07 fires threaten cities and towns, requiring the intervention of troops from other regions and the State, such as the Military Emergency Unit. In Galicia, at least 4.300 hectares of land burned in 13 fires, and three of them put several cities at risk.

Extreme heat caused at least 360 deaths in Spain since last Sunday, according to official figures. This Saturday (12), maximums of up to 15 degrees due to a “very dry” air mass arriving from the Sahara, according to the State Meteorological Agency, which warned that temperatures will continue to rise. The historical maximum in Spain is 47, 6 degrees recorded in the Andalusian municipality of La Rambla in August last year. Five regions are on red alert and another seven are under extreme temperature alert.

) In other European countries the concern with the heat wave is also great. In addition to Spain, Portugal, Greece and France recorded several fires. In the Gironde region of France, at least 11 1,000 people were forced to leave their homes, another 4,000 were evacuated in Cazoux, Bordeaux district.

In the United Kingdom, the alert for high temperatures, which must exceed 40 degrees, led the authorities to announce an emergency situation. According to the local weather service, the highest temperatures are expected to be recorded next Monday and Tuesday, in the central regions of the United Kingdom, including London, Manchester and York.

The guideline is that the population increase their water intake and change their daily routine to avoid sun exposure during the hottest periods of the day. Since Friday (), a greater demand for ambulance services and hospital care due to the large number of people who have been sick due to the heat.
