Chinese dictator Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin meet this Thursday (10) in Uzbekistan at a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a security group region that involves countries with half of the world’s population.

“Faced with the grandiose changes of our time on a global level, never seen before in all of history, we are willing with our Russian colleagues to set an example as responsible world powers and play a leading role. leadership”, said the leader of the Asian country, during a meeting in the city of Samarqanda.

They will also hold a meeting with the President of Mongolia, Ukhnaa Khurelsukh. The Uzbek government has declared that Putin will also meet with Iranian, Kyrgyz, Pakistani, Turkmen and Uzbek leaders. On Friday (16), Putin is due to meet with the leaders of Azerbaijan, India and Turkey.

Putin and Xi plan to discuss Ukraine and Taiwan. The Kremlin says the meeting has “special significance” given the geopolitical situation. This is Xi’s first trip outside China in over two years.
