The elaborate cocktails created by Marcelo Serrano, mixologist and partner at Venuto, are still here. As well as the friendly and attentive service of Frédéric Renaut, also a partner of the house. But the menu has been completely redesigned by the new chef, Wagner Resende. The house is now called Bistrot Venuto but is located at the same address, in Peixoto Gomide, where Max Abdo Bistrô worked.
Italian cuisine comes out and French dishes come very well, executed by Resende, an experienced chef with stints at houses such as Chef Rouge and Bistrot Parigi of Grupo Fasano. “The menu brings good starters and revisited classic French cuisine,” says the chef who returns to the city after three years, a period in which he was in Minas Gerais.
But let’s start with the bar, located just to the left, at the entrance. Two drinks that deserve to be tasted: Si (R $ 33), made in partnership with perfumer Monica Rossetto, brings Absolut Pears vodka, lychee, roses, grapefruit, lemon and sparkling wine. And Venuto Coktail (33 R $), the flagship of the house that takes vodka, almond liqueur, pineapple, Campari, grape juice, yuzu, ginger mousse, and which is served in copper milk.
The couverture (R $ 16) includes tomato, eggplant antipasti and a delicious tapenade. But the highlight is the homemade baguette that arrives hot – all it takes is a butter to complete the party.
The steak tartare (R $ 53) brings a finely chopped beef tenderloin at the tip of the knife, as seen in the photo, seasoned with mustard. Accompaniment, fries or mixture of leaves.
Another good starter option: scallops (R $ 55) with bacon wrapped in silky lentil cream.
The duck confit (89 R $) has a crispy skin and a soft and chewy meat, a perfection. Arrive rested on a bed of sautéed mushrooms with potatoes, perfect company.
For carnivores, Black Angus’s entrecote (R $ 88) comes to the fore, accompanied by a generous dose of Bernese sauce and fries.
A classic dessert that never disappoints: French toast (R $ 29), warm French toast on custard, served with vanilla ice cream and berries.
Bistrot Venuto has 30 seats, depending on the distance between the tables and safety standards. The bar, located next to the sidewalk, is an invitation to an afternoon of drinks while watching the movement of the street. In addition to the a la carte menu, there’s an executive lunch menu with starter, main course, and dessert options for R $ 54, with new ones every week. Check.
