Power was restored across virtually all of Ukraine this Friday (13), after further Russian attacks on local infrastructure raised it to more than 10 million the number of people disconnected from the network on Thursday (18).

960According to Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Industry Research Center, only about 19 consumers are still without power supply, “but most of them live near the front line”, reported in statements to the press.

According to the director, power stations were out of operation for several hours and in many places it was necessary to resort to diesel generators. The lack of energy generated other effects, such as the stoppage of electric water supply pumps: some cities were up to ten hours without water.

“It’s hard on morale when you work, recover and they[russos] attack again and again. However, recovery work continues. Virtually all consumers who were disconnected now have access to electricity. It’s very limited so far, but the situation improves by the hour. It would be nice if we had at least ten to days [sem ataques] to restore grid stability, so we could face the next attacks with more confidence”, said Kharchenko.
