What’s the story of Trial By Fire
The book “Trial By Fire: The Tragic Tale of The Uphaar Fire Tragedy” was authored by Neelam Krishnamoorthy and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy. This novel served as the inspiration for the television series “Trial By Fire.” It is based on a tragic event that took place in 1997 when a fire broke out in the Uphaar theatre, which is located in Delhi. The lives of Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy, who lost their two children in the same fire disaster, are the subject of this web series. They have been going from court to court in an attempt to get justice for their children’s deaths.
After hearing about the massive success of a certain film and the widespread acclaim it received as a result of the participation of a well-known actor in the film, a brother and sister who reside in North Delhi and enjoy a fulfilling life with their parents make the decision to go see that film in a theatre. They ultimately succeed in persuading their parents to accompany them to the theatre so that they can watch the movie.
An accident occurs as people are watching the movie, and the theatre catches fire and burns down. Their parents find out about the tragedy when they arrive at the theatre and find out that their children were also killed in the fire accident as the news about the tragedy spreads more quickly in Delhi, where the victims’ families live.
Even though the accident was caused by the management of the theatre being negligent, the court dismissed the case against them. This increased the anger of the parents, leading them to continue filing more complaints seeking justice for the death of their children, but these cases have caused the trial to continue for almost 20 years.

The Uphaar Cinema fire was one of the biggest fire tragedies in the history of the country. It began on Friday, June 13, 1997, at the Uphaar Cinema in Green Park Delhi, during the screening of the movie Border at three in the afternoon. Reports indicate that around 59 individuals passed away from asphyxiation as a result of being trapped inside, while 103 people sustained significant injuries as a direct result of the frenzied stampede that took place.
Recently, the actor Abhay Deol posted a trailer for the upcoming web series Trial By Fire on his Instagram profile. The series will be based on the tragic event that occurred. Shekhar Krishnamoorthy, played by Abhay, is a character who, together with his wife Neelam (who is portrayed by Rajshri Deshpande), suffers the loss of both of their children as a result of a fire and then fights tooth and nail for justice over a period of time that extends well beyond 18 years.
Earlier, Abhay Deol had revealed in a post that he had put up on his website that this was the “hardest job to portray” for him. In a post on social media, he shared a poster for the show and stated, “Possibly the hardest character I’ve ever had to portray. Even though I’ve told actual stories in the past, this one has to be the saddest of them all. A devastating fire that was followed by a string of other unfortunate events. The sorrows that Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy had to endure over the course of twenty-five years and more.
