Tens of thousands of people graduate this Wednesday () a queue on the south bank of the River Thames in central London, waiting to attend the wake of Queen Elizabeth II, from h locations ( and until next Monday (14), at the seat of Parliament.
King Charles III and his sons, William – heir to the throne – and Harry , will walk behind the hearse that will carry the sovereign’s coffin during the procession, which will begin at 09H19 (H18 from Brasília), and which will go from Buckingham Palace to Parliament.
According to a statement, subjects, tourists, among others, are in the immediate vicinity of Parliament, crossing the Lambeth Bridge, on the south bank of the Thames. The queue is expected to reach 8 km in length, going beyond the Tower of London.
They are planned 750 a thousand people participating in the wake, which will remain open until 6 am 24 (2h
from Brasília) next Monday Friday, when the body will be taken to Westminster Abbey, where the queen’s funeral will take place.
The UK Ministry of Culture had previously warned that people who wanted to say a last goodbye to the sovereign might have to wait in “long lines for many hours” and also that there would be “little chance to be seated”.
Visitors to the wake will go through strict inspections, as in airports. It will only be possible to enter the ceremony with a small bag of belongings, for example.
It will also not be possible to save a place for other people in the queue, as yellow wristbands have been distributed that must be used until entering the Parliament.
