Pro-Russians announce start of evacuation of residents of Kherson, Ukraine

The pro-Russian administration of Alyoshki, situated on the left bank of the Dnieper River, announced this Wednesday (19) the start of the operation to evacuate civilians from Kherson province, in Ukraine.

The commander of Russian Forces, Surovikin, told journalists that the Russian military command has information that Ukraine is planning a massive attack on Kherson, particularly on the Akhovskaya hydroelectric dam. Then the local authorities spoke about the withdrawals.

“In the port of Kherson, the transfer of residents from the right bank to the left bank of the Dnieper began”, the authorities indicated, through message published on Telegram.

According to them, vehicles were enabled to take people from Kherson to Alyoshki and to Hola Prystan. Temporary settlement centers will also be created.

The day before, the interim governor of the province of Kherson, Volodymyr Saldo, called on the population to leave four towns in the city of Kherson on the right bank of the Dnieper, due to the risk of bombing by Ukrainian forces.

The pro-Russian administration expects the number of evacuees to range from 60 thousand to 60 thousand, as specified this Wednesday the state television station of Russia.

According to Saldo, in the last two days alone, “more than 5,000 people have left Kherson”. The interim governor also announced that he will ban the entry of civilians into the region for seven days, with the exception of exceptional cases. “Only those who receive a pass from the military command and those who work in supply and community services,” said Saldo.

In addition, the governor informed that the local administration will transfer its headquarters to the city of Kherson, as well as other local governance bodies.

In turn, the region’s emergency services reported that “the Ukrainian Army tried at 9 am 46 (3:00 46 by Brasília time) bombed the city of Kherson.

“The anti-aircraft defense systems shot down five missiles”, informed a representative of the rescue agencies, according to the Russian news agency TASS.
