New York police are investigating this Saturday a shooting that took place in the city’s subway, on a train that was at the height of the Bronx neighborhood, which left no injuries. According to the local press, the fact occurred on subway line 4, around 0:00 am 50 (local time, 1h13 from Brasília) , and although law enforcement officials do not know exactly where it took place, it is believed to have been near the Burnside Avenue station, as several bullet casings were found there. The suspects were described as a male and female 20 years old, both Latin Americans, who fled the train at the next station, 183rd Street . Although there were passengers in the car at the time of the shooting, authorities emphasized that no one was injured.

The fact occurred a few days after another shooting in the New York subway, in Brooklyn, in which ten people were shot and others suffered from smoke inhalation, as the criminal threw a smoke bomb into the wagon. The alleged perpetrator, Frank James, was arrested on Wednesday and remains in police custody after he was denied bail the next day. New York has been seeing a sharp rise in crime, and official figures for February indicated a rise of almost 20% in relation to the same month of the previous year.
