South African businessman Elon Musk notified Twitter to end the lawsuit purchase from the social media platform.

According to information from NBC, Musk expressed this position in a letter sent by his lawyer, Mike Ringler, to the company’s legal board this Friday (8).

In the statement, Ringler accuses Twitter of not have fulfilled their contractual obligations by failing to provide Musk with the business information he requested. The entrepreneur wanted proof of Twitter’s claims that less than 5% of its daily active users are fake or spam accounts.

“Twitter failed or refused to provide this information,” Ringler said. “Sometimes Twitter ignored Musk’s requests, sometimes rejected them for reasons that seemed unwarranted, and sometimes claimed to comply by providing incomplete or unusable information to Musk.”

Twitter Chairman Bret Taylor said that the company will sue Musk in court.

“Twitter’s board is committed to closing the transaction at the price and terms agreed with Mr Musk and plans to take legal action to enforce the merger agreement. We are confident that we will prevail in the Delaware Court of Chancery,” he wrote on Twitter.

Due to the announcement of Musk’s withdrawal, the company’s shares fell 6%.

By the end of April, the social media platform had accepted the offer of Buy Musk for USD 40 billion. The businessman claimed that he intended to make changes to Twitter so that there were more guarantees of freedom of expression on the social network.
