The 7 Kembe hotels of Nisa Group of Sanjay Gupta, IAS agent of Gujarat, were bought by Hotel Group Express Group of Vadodara, which is involved in a controversy over the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar metro project. Express Group is awaiting approval from the National Company Law Tribunal to complete the transaction. The agreement will increase the capacity of rooms in the Express group by 800 rooms. The new Kembe hotels are located in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar in Gujarat and in Nimrana, Udaipur and Jaipur in Rajasthan.
Sanjay Gupta, former chairman of the Ahmedabad Gandhinagar metro project and controversial former IAS, was the owner of the Nisa Group’s Kembe hotels. A money laundering case was registered against him in 2017 under which the Directorate of Enforcement issued its Rs. Assets worth Rs 36 crore were seized.
