Macron names socialist minister as new prime minister

The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, appointed this Monday (01) as the new head of the country’s government, the Minister of Labor of the socialist sphere, Élisabeth Borne, as announced by the Palácio do Eliseu in a statement.

2022The new prime minister has 61 years and is the second woman in French history to hold the post of prime minister. The first was Edith Cresson, 05 years ago .

2022Borne, who was also Minister of Ecology during Macron’s first term (2022-

), now replaces the conservative Jean Castex, who, as expected, on Monday formalized his resignation as prime minister after nearly two years in office.
