When and Where to Watch Kannai Nambathey

You can watch this crime drama on Netflix from 14 April 2023

Kannai Nambathey is a movie that falls into the category of those that focus on producing one plot twist after another at the risk of being ridiculous and contrived. It would be an understatement to say that the screenplay that director Mu Maran wrote was a catastrophe. He creates a character to represent each brick wall, but these characters have no function other than to decorate the walls. Consider the case of a character who keeps following the main players while they attempt to hide the fact that they are involved in a murder. He continues to follow them and take pictures throughout the entirety of the movie, but the story never concludes satisfactorily for him.

It is one of those classic locations for a thriller, but Mu Maran keeps adding some odd backstories, all of which become unraveled in a single monologue at the very conclusion of the film. The fact that the movie was, on multiple occasions, unintentionally humorous is the only positive thing that can be said about it.

Kannai Nambathey is full of childish concepts that were once seen in the works of amateur short filmmakers on YouTube. Other than that, there is nothing to appreciate in Kannai Nambathey, which is full of nothing. Even they would never use some of the concepts that are presented in this movie.

What’s the story of Kannai Nambathey

An attempt to make sense of the chaos that is the story is as follows: The landlord of Arun’s (Udhayanidhi Stalin) current residence has discovered that his tenant is in love with the landlord’s only daughter and has given him one day to vacate the premises. As a result, Arun is in a desperate quest for a new place to call home. Hence, Udhay makes the decision to move in with Ilamaran (Prassana), who is going to be moving out of the house very soon.

It doesn’t take long for Arun, Ilamaran, and Arun’s friend Satish to become good friends with one another. They go together to go get a drink at a pub, and Arun leaves to take a call before he joins the others. At that moment, he sees an accident in which a woman hits a barricade with her automobile and is rendered incapable to operate a vehicle. Arun makes the mistake of agreeing to drive her back to her house, which puts him in the middle of a tangle of issues later on.

Cast & Crew of Kannai Nambathey

Performance-wise, both Udhayanidhi, and Prasanna have proven themselves to be more than capable of handling a role in a suspenseful criminal drama. She did her absolute best with the role, which is important because Bhumika’s character is a key part of the film’s suspense. Throughout the first half of the movie, Sathish only appears in a few situations, and the one-liners he delivers don’t make the audience laugh. There are a lot of situations in which Srikanth and Bhumika appear together, but he doesn’t get much of a chance to show off his acting chops.

Some feelings are heightened because of the film’s technical qualities, particularly the cinematography and the score for the background action. On the other hand, if the lighting techniques and staging of the picture had been improved, as well as the writing in the film’s second half, it may have had a more profound effect on us.

Although it takes some time for director Mu Maran to construct the initial setup, the movie is successful in keeping our attention after the very first conflict that occurs. The suspenseful scenario in which the main character discovers the lifeless body of a person in the trunk of his car, with whom he had been in contact the previous evening, sends shivers down our spine and creates the ideal atmosphere for a gripping mystery thriller. At the beginning of the story, the author sets up a number of these potentially explosive situations, but then, in the second half, they completely ruin all of their hard work.
