Ground Zero OTT Release Date

Ground Zero is all set to be premiered on 20 June 2025 on Amazon Prime Video.

For fans of action thrillers with emotional depth and historical relevance, Ground Zero offers a balanced cinematic experience. It not only showcases the adrenaline-filled operations of Indian security forces but also provides a sensitive portrayal of personal sacrifice, cultural conflict, and ideological warfare.

Emraan Hashmi, in one of his most mature roles to date, portrays a man burdened with duty and empathy. His performance, paired with a meaningful narrative, makes this film stand out in a crowded genre. The film also serves as a tribute to the many unsung heroes of India’s armed forces, who operate in the shadows, making daily sacrifices to keep the nation safe.

Ground Zero is set to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video starting June 20, 2025. It will be available to all subscribers of the platform and includes English subtitles, making it accessible to non-Hindi speaking audiences as well.

When and Where to Watch Ground Zero

You can watch this action thriller on Amazon Prime Video from 20 June 2025.

Upon its theatrical release on April 25, 2025, Ground Zero received mixed-to-positive reviews. While some critics pointed out its heavy-handed dramatization, most applauded Hashmi’s performance, the film’s realism, and its bold exploration of a politically sensitive topic.

The box office performance was moderate but steady, with strong word-of-mouth helping the film sustain interest beyond its opening weekend. Now that the film has wrapped up its theatrical journey, the digital premiere is expected to open it up to a much larger audience, especially those who missed the big screen experience.

Before the wide release on Prime Video, the film will have an early-access rental window, where interested viewers can rent the film for ₹349, a growing trend for major Bollywood releases.

This strategic digital release ensures that Ground Zero can spark renewed discussions on counter-terrorism, national security, and the human cost of conflict, all through the lens of storytelling.

Ground Zero Movie Story

Ground Zero is inspired by true events from India’s long battle against terrorism in Kashmir. Set during the early 2000s, a time of heightened instability in the region, the film focuses on BSF Deputy Commandant Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, played with remarkable grit and nuance by Emraan Hashmi.

The character is based on a real-life hero involved in one of India’s most complex and dangerous counter-terrorism operations. The story begins in Srinagar, where a wave of terror attacks shakes the region.

These assaults are led by a radicalized group of college youth known as the “Pistol Gang”, operating under the command of the elusive terrorist Ghazi Baba. As Dubey is deployed to the region, he faces not only the daunting mission of dismantling this threat but also the psychological and emotional cost of operating in a war-like environment.

Cast and Crew of Ground Zero Series

In addition to Emraan Hashmi’s compelling lead performance, Ground Zero features an impressive ensemble that elevates the film’s emotional and dramatic tones. Sai Tamhankar and Zoya Hussain deliver emotionally grounded performances as women affected by the socio-political realities around them.

The film also stars Deepak Paramesh, Lalit Prabhakar, Rockey Raina, and Rahul Vohra, each bringing their characters to life in a way that enhances the movie’s authenticity. Veteran actor Zoya Hussain plays a local teacher caught in the crossfire of ideology and duty, while Tamhankar adds emotional depth as Dubey’s wife, offering a civilian’s perspective on a soldier’s sacrifice.

Unlike many action thrillers that focus solely on gunfights and chase sequences, Ground Zero dives deep into the personal struggles of those on the frontlines. Emraan Hashmi portrays Dubey as a complex figure brave and resolute, yet deeply affected by the violence and political ambiguity surrounding him.

His inner conflict becomes even more palpable when a young boy from the region, initially lured into extremism, begins to change after encountering Dubey and his wife, played by Sai Tamhankar. This subplot serves as a powerful narrative on deradicalization, hope, and transformation, striking a chord in today’s increasingly polarized world.

Director Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, known for his sensitive approach to storytelling, brings a rare realism to Ground Zero. His direction does not shy away from the moral dilemmas and brutal realities of counter-terrorism operations.

The script, co-developed by a team of seasoned writers, skillfully blends real-life references with fictional arcs, allowing viewers to connect with the story without turning it into a mere documentary retelling.

The production values are high, with cinematography capturing the breathtaking yet tension-filled landscapes of Kashmir, and an understated musical score that underlines both the suspense and the pathos of the story.

As Ground Zero becomes available for streaming, it joins the league of Indian films that aim to do more than entertain they educate, provoke thought, and offer emotional resonance. Whether you are a fan of intense drama, true stories, or military thrillers, Ground Zero has something to offer.
