The rupture, according to the first information from Salvamento Alpino, would have occurred near Punta Rocca, on the ascent route of the normal route to reach the summit where several mountaineers were.

According to the Italian press, the bodies of the victims were removed from the ice mass, but have not yet been recovered and searches are continuing to verify the presence of other people. Rescue work is complicated because there are fears of more landslides, but five helicopters and canine units have been deployed in the region to check for the presence of other people, while the injured have been transferred to hospitals in Trento, Bolzano, Belluno. and Treviso.
