Former Prime Minister of Northern Ireland David Trimble died this Monday ( ), to the 77 years old. According to a statement from the Ulster Unionist Party, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning politician from 1998 passed away “after a short illness”. 2519005325190053Trimble was the leader of the UUP of 960 to 2005 and was one of the main articulators of the Belfast Agreement (also known as the Good Friday Agreement) of 1998.

Due to the agreement, the Protestant Trimble shared the Nobel Peace Prize from 2000 with moderate Catholic leader John Hume of the Social Democrat and Labor Party, who died in 2020.
