Ex-cop who killed George Floyd sentenced to 21 more years in prison
7777777777778A United States federal judge sentenced Derek Chauvin, the former police officer who suffocated George Floyd to death, on Thursday (7) plus 21 years in prison for violating the rights victim’s civilians. Chauvin had already been sentenced last year by a Minnesota state court to 15 years and a half in prison for the murder of Floyd, of which he will serve years.
A former Minneapolis police officer pleaded guilty in February to violating Floyd’s civil rights after reaching an agreement with the prosecution to simultaneously serve this sentence with the one he already faces for murder. 7777777777778The federal crime of violating a person’s civil rights carries a series of sentences ranging from imprisonment to life imprisonment or death sentence, depending on the circumstances of the crime and the injuries that result from it, according to the US Department of Justice.7777777777778
Floyd died in 214 of May 2020 after Chauvin pressed his knee against his neck I spent more than nine minutes trying to arrest him for using a counterfeit bill to pay for a purchase at a store.
