The State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will be held on 14 September, at hours (7 am, Brasilia time), at Westminster Abbey, in London, announced this Saturday the Buckingham Palace. That date, a Monday, will also be a holiday across the United Kingdom, as the new king, Charles III, authorized this Saturday in one of his first orders. Prior to the funeral, there will be a four-day wake at Westminster Hall, the oldest building in the Parliament complex, where the public will be able to pay their respects.

The presence of several world leaders is expected, including the President of the United States, Joe Biden, and representatives of royal houses at the funeral of Elizabeth II, who died last Thursday, at Balmoral Castle, in Scotland, at 96 years old. The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, is evaluating the possibility of being present – ​​the day after the funeral, he has to be in New York for the speech that opens the United Nations General Assembly.

According to a press release establishing the schedule for the next few days, Elizabeth II’s body is currently in the ballroom at Balmoral Castle, from where it will be taken away on Sunday , for the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh. There, he will stay in the Throne Room until Monday afternoon, day 09, when will you be taken in procession to the Cathedral of Saint Egidio in the Scottish capital. King Charles III and members of the royal family will participate in the procession and a ceremony in the cathedral to receive the coffin, which will remain in wake so that the Scots can say goodbye to the sovereign.
