)19133059Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin was placed in the royal vault of St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on Monday afternoon (local time), before being transferred to the family crypt for a private burial.
19133059 ) The jewels that adorned it since the sovereign’s death on September 8 – the imperial crown, the scepter and the royal orbs symbolizing the Christian world – were removed from the heavy oak and lead coffin.
19133059The coffin will be buried with that of Philip, Elizabeth II’s husband who died in 2021, at the memorial of George VI, in the chapel next to the Queen’s parents and her sister Margaret.
