DSP Movie OTT release date: When and where to watch this typical revenge drama starrer Vijay Sethupathi

Legendary actor Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi’s commercial flick DSP directed by Ponram was released on December 02, 2022.

Vijay Sethu last appeared in Kathu Vakula Rendu Kadhal, but the movie wasn’t successful. He currently has a number of promising projects in development, including Michael with Sandeep Kishan, in which he will play a villain, and Jawan with Sharukh Khan. A few other Hindi films, including Mumbaikar and Merry Christmas, are also in production, and Vetri Maran’s Viduthalai will be released by the end of the year.

DSP is a conventional vengeance story with many of the elements one would anticipate from mainstream cinema if it had been produced a decade earlier. The film’s done-to-death plot offers little to the actor and the audience, despite Vijay Sethupathi’s best efforts. Ponram’s screenplay does improve as the movie goes along, but it still lacks punch.

What’s the story of DSP

We learn about his family, friends, and life as the flower seller’s kid in a flashback. Unexpected events force Vascodagama to square off against Mutta Ravi (Prabakar), a powerful politician’s lieutenant. After he gets into a fight with Ravi, a local inspector tells him to leave the town and save himself. Vasco da Gama travels all the way to Chennai out of concern for his family’s safety only to return as DSP to his hometown.
Can his position and influence aid him in the struggle against the cunning assassin who is now an MLA?

Cast & Crew of DSP

After Sethupathi, this is Vijay Sethupathi’s second appearance as a police officer in a movie full of heartwarming scenes and applaud-worthy moments. Even Vijay Sethupathi’s casual performance—which is one of his strengths—fails to live up to expectations in this situation.

Anukreethy portrays the stereotypical Ponram’s heroine with a few alleged comedic parts, thus her character doesn’t really have much to offer. Although she gives a respectable performance, she needs a more challenging role to succeed. One of the highlights of the film is Prabakar’s portrayal of Mutta Ravi; he appears threatening and convincing as a cruel rowdy-turned-politician.

Many more personalities appear and disappear without having any lasting impression. With her on-screen presence, Shivani Narayanan, who appears as a cop in the second half, adds a little sparkle. Vemal makes an extremely fantastic cameo, however, the scene may have been better written.
The action drama isn’t put off by the fact that the film’s cinematography, editing, or soundtrack adhere to the standard commercial movie pattern and offers nothing fresh or original.
