One of the few Tamil movies that were shown in theatres around the end of the year 2022 was a movie called “Driver Jamuna.” On December 30, theatres began showing the film that P Kinslin directed and helmed. It was going to be released in November and was being billed as a thriller set on the open road; however, the filmmakers decided to push back their plans for reasons that are best known to them.
As a result of only some of the segments being compelling and the lack of a coherent narrative, the project was met with a variety of responses when it first appeared in theatres. The movie was produced by 18 Reels, which is owned by SP Chowthari and funded by him.

The strategy of saving the best for last could be successful if the first setup is strong enough to keep the audience interested. But it’s hardly a fair arrangement if you want the audience to be patient throughout the entire show just so they can enjoy the last act when it comes around. The thriller Driver Jamuna makes an excessive amount of effort in order to provide its audience with an immersive experience. However, there aren’t really any major confrontations, and most of the moments are just surface-level, so it’s a pretty boring journey overall, and there’s nothing to take away from it.
Both Jamuna (Aishwarya Rajesh), a passionate cab driver, and her mother, who is partially paralyzed, are introduced to the audience in the very first scene. Jamuna is played by Aishwarya Rajesh. They have a history, but no one knows anything about it except for themselves. As of right now, the only information we have is that Jamuna’s late father was also a cab driver and that her brother is currently working as a software engineer in Bangalore.

Cast & Crew of Driver Jamuna
The director Kinslin takes his time to establish his characters and how they got where they are in the story. When the main character, however, becomes immersed in the struggle, the narrative becomes more focused and interesting. Because of this, we are aware of the mounting tension in the scene when the contract killers get into Jamuna’s cab. However, the most disappointing aspect is that the exciting aspect does not even endure for more than half an hour. This is the worst letdown.
The film would not have been nearly as successful without Aishwarya Rajesh and the forceful performance she delivered. On film, the other characters don’t have a lot of room to demonstrate their acting skills due to the limited scope of their roles. Both the person in charge of the music, Ghibran, and the cinematographer, Gokul Benoy, make significant contributions to the atmosphere of the thriller.
Due to the fact that the film’s premise is applicable to a wide audience, it was also distributed in the languages of Hindi and Telugu. “Since taxis have become such an integral part of life in a city, we are of the opinion that this tale can be told in a variety of tongues.
Driver Gibran composed the music for Jamuna.
