The general budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year will be published on February 1, 2021. The budget session will begin on January 29. The session will take place in two parts. The first part will take place from January 29 to February 15 and the second from March 8 to April 8. The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) recommended these dates. The final decision in this regard will be taken by Cabinet.
On the first day of the session, President Ramnath Kovind will address both Houses of Parliament on January 29. The budget proposal will be discussed in the second part of the session. Previously, the government had not called a winter session of parliament due to the Corona outbreak. The CCAC said the corona virus protocol would be followed during the session.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman earlier said the budget would be unprecedented. Given the scarcity of government funds, it is believed that a covid surcharge could be introduced into the budget.
