An electronic voting machine was challenged in Lisbon, capital of Portugal, this Sunday (2) after a voter voted twice. The determination came from the Electoral Court, in Brasília. According to information published by the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo , a man, of years old, voted on a ballot of paper in your section due to problems with the electronic equipment. After that, he would have gone to the polling station next door and entered in front of another voter who was authorized to vote in the electronic voting machine.

The incident was confirmed to the newspaper by the Consulate of Brazil in Lisbon and also by the Federal Police. The case was registered at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.

The man was removed from the scene and taken to a representation of the Federal Police. He was not arrested, but will respond to a process in Brazil for electoral crime. An incident report was opened about the case.

In note, the Federal Police confirmed that the electronic voting machine was “unfeasible” in Lisbon and informed that the election in this electoral section continued with voting on paper ballot.
