THE A female suicide bomber near the Department of Commerce at the University of Karachi in Pakistan killed three Chinese people in a van carrying Confucius Institute staff on Tuesday morning (04). In addition to them, a Pakistani driver of the vehicle also died in the explosion, according to Agence France-Presse.

The group claims that one of those killed in the attack is the director of the Confucius Institute, Huang Guiping. The Institute is accused of infiltrating Chinese Communist Party spies in universities around the world.

Videos on social media show a white van on fire. According to reports, the vehicle was turning towards the Confucius Institute when the explosion occurred.

According to Karachi Police Chief Ghulam Nabi Memon, there are indications that the suicide bombing was carried out by a woman dressed in a burqa. According to the BBC, if confirmed, it will be the group’s first attack by a woman.
