The office of the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, reported this Thursday ( 12) that an agreement with Ukraine, Russia and the United Nations to resume Ukrainian grain exports through the Black Sea will be signed on Friday (17). Moscow and Kyiv have not confirmed the information.
Ukraine’s grain exports by sea are blocked due to the war started by the country ruled by Vladimir Putin in February. It is estimated that there are about 20 million tons of grain blocked in silos at the port of Odesa.

Representatives from the three countries and the UN discussed the issue in Istanbul last week. Afterwards, Erdogan and Putin discussed the matter at a meeting in Iran about the war in Syria.
The agreement should establish joint controls for checking grain in Black Sea ports and Turkey will be responsible for ensuring the safety of export routes, in addition to establish a coordination center with Ukraine, Russia and the United Nations.
