‘Afwaah’ takes place in the culturally diverse and multiethnic neighborhood of Sambalpur, and its soundtrack features a wide range of musical genres, including jazz, Rajasthani folk, western, and the ghazal style, as the film’s various scenes develop.

Another thing that Sudhir Mishra excels at in the movie is maintaining his distance from the characters. The director relies on his audience to draw the connections and comprehend the more crucial issues at hand rather than being emotionally attached to the characters and forgetting the more significant mechanisms at play since he isn’t invested in them or needs to establish their history. This fair writing is deserving of praise.
For instance, in “Afwaah,” we know that Vicky (Sumeet) has a lot going on in his thoughts but doesn’t reveal it, or that Nawazudin acts the way he does because he tries to make up for wrong from the past. Gyan Singh, a sickly local politician known as a “hukum,” is the father of Bhumi Pednekar (Nivedita Singh), who causes political turmoil in the small constituency of Sambalpur by joining up with another party. Sharib Hashmi’s performance in “Afwaah” stands out for mixing ruthless honesty and tenderness despite playing a vile character in the movie. All four performers in the film are deserving of praise for their work.

The personal and political are intertwined in “Afwaah” through the use of a lot of mid-shots and lengthy takes, but the film never gets too close to its characters or the politics of the setting to lose its equilibrium or veer off into one particular direction.
For instance, all action and high-tension dramatic scenes and sequences are interspersed with mid and long shots to make us aware of the issue at hand and to elicit a certain level of sympathy, but not to the point where we lose our sense of discrimination or deliberately suspend disbelief.
