In one of the interviews that Muralitharan gave to Zoom, he said that Sethupathi was going through a difficult time as a result of the threats that were made against his family.
Muralitharan went on to say that the director had organized a meeting with Vijay so that he could tell him about the script.
After reading the script, Vijay expressed his excitement for the movie and voiced his desire to be a part of the production since he didn’t want to miss out on this one-of-a-kind opportunity. Following that, the transaction was finalized, and he joined the team.
In addition, he said, “He was under a tremendous amount of pressure, and they were threatening Vijay’s family as well.”
“This movie is a sports movie, and it’s not related to anything political or anything else, but it’s just a true story of a man,” Muralitharan explained. “This movie is based on a true story about a man.”
When and Where to Watch 800
You can watch this biographical drama on Jio Cinema from 02 December 2023.
Inspiring others is the primary focus of any good sports drama. The climactic portion of any and all sports dramas is always designed to give the audience chills. The audience’s interest is always piqued when a renowned athlete’s life story is portrayed in a biopic. One such film is titled “800,” which was directed by MS Sripathy and tells the story of the life and career of the renowned cricket player Muthaiah Muralidharan. He was a member of the Sri Lankan team but preferred to be known for his skill as a cricket player rather than his country of origin.
What’s the story of 800
The fascinating life of Muthiah Muralitharan, who is most known for his record-breaking 800 wickets in Test cricket, is the subject of the documentary film 800. The story explores how Muralitharan overcame numerous obstacles on his route from being a victim of discrimination in Tamil society to becoming a dominant figure in the sport of cricket.
The film examines his resiliency, his transition from fast bowler to cricket icon, and the complexity of his identity, with a focus on the challenges he experienced as a result of his Tamil origin when he was trying to prove his devotion to the Sri Lankan squad. In addition to this, it discusses the controversy that surrounded his bowling method and briefly halted his otherwise impressive cricket career.
Cast & Crew of The 800
Madhur Mittal, Mahima Nambiar, Nassar, and a few more were victims of sexual assault. MS Sripathy is responsible for the script as well as the direction of the film. R.D. Rajasekhar is the cinematographer, and Ghibran is the music composer. Movie Train Motion Pictures and Vivek Rangachari are the producers of the film.
It would have been possible for the movie to dive deeper into a few major events that occurred in Muralitharan’s life, which would have made for a more emotionally relevant representation. Because the screenplay does not have the refinement necessary to elevate crucial passages, the film ends up being a less memorable biopic.
The director of the movie, M.S. Sripathy, has the ability to create a more polished and interesting biopic for the audience. Ghibran’s soundtrack isn’t terrible by any means, but it doesn’t quite manage to capture the full range of emotions that the story’s various scenes evoke. In order to keep the momentum going, Praveen K. L.’s editing might have been more precise.
Madhur Mittal gives a compelling performance as Muttiah Muralitharan in “800: The Movie,” which takes the captivating story of Muralitharan to the theatre audience. Even while it has its brilliant moments, it fails to create a storyline that is continuously interesting throughout the whole thing. It remains to be seen whether or not it will be successful at the box office given its budget and the fact that it will be released in multiple languages.
The cast of ‘800’ delivers outstanding work time and time again. The performance that Madhur Mittal does as Muthiah Muralidharan is amazing. It’s safe to conclude that he has lived his character, whether it’s because of his bowling action or the expressive eyes he has. King Rathnam, playing the role of Arjuna Ranatunga, is an actor from Sri Lanka who also wowed with his performance. The performances of Mahima Nambiar, Vadivukkarasi, Nasser, and a number of others in supporting roles were very helpful to the picture.
“800” also dives into several touchy subjects, including the meeting with the leader of the LTTE (Master, played by Naren), as well as the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan squad in Pakistan.
In addition to the excellent performances, Ghibran’s music and RD Rajasekar’s cinematography help to elevate the overall quality of the movie-watching experience. The visual effects and computer graphics, on the other hand, could have used a bit more polish.
